A large proportion of North Glenmore Park homes were built in the late 1950s – early 1960s, when this neighbourhood was first developed. Updated and modernized for today’s technology, these homes feature ample lot sizes and mature trees. Semi-detached homes are also available on occasion in North Glenmore Park.
The area south of Glenmore Trail is often thought to be part of the Lakeview community, but is part of the North Glenmore Park neighbourhood as well. This is an attractive "pocket" area, with Earl Grey Golf course bordering it on the east and south.
AMENITIES
North Glenmore Park homes are within a short distance of a great many recreational areas including Glenmore Athletic Park, Altadore Park, North Glenmore Park and Weaselhead Natural Area. Three golf courses lie near this neighbourhood: Calgary Golf and Country Club, Lakeview Golf Course and Earl Grey Golf Club. There are a number of smaller parks and sports fields scattered throughout the district.
Shopping and dining are readily available to North Glenmore Park home owners via the Crowchild Trail and Glenmore Trail routes. Chinook Centre is only 7 km away and Downtown Calgary is just under 10.
The North Glenmore Park Community Association is active in the area. It maintains a community centre popular city-wide and hosts a number of programs for area residents.
HISTORY
According to the North Glenmore Park Community Association, the neighbourhood was once a stone quarry site in the early 20th century. This quarry provided the stone for many of Calgary’s heritage buildings.
North Glenmore Park was annexed by the City of Calgary in 1956 and started development in 1957.
