HISTORY
Inglewood was Calgary’s downtown district back in the 1870s, but was quickly supplanted by today’s downtown Calgary when the Canadian Pacific Railway chose to root their headquarters across the Elbow River. The community was officially established in 1929 and for years was a popular residential area, due to its proximity to downtown. Inglewood has survived being abandoned by businesses following the CPR, urban decay and an attempt to convert it into a cloverleaf interchange in the ‘60s. This spurred the movement towards revitalization that continues to this day.
