HISTORY
Although annexed to the City of Calgary back in 1910, the Britannia area didn't become established until much later. Britannia was initially designed to be an 'upscale' subdivision, but very few of the overpriced lots failed to sell when first offered in 1952, due to a struggling post-war economy. Prices were reduced in the mid-50s and the area quickly developed into the small, family-friendly community that Britannia remains today. The diversity of architectural styles and appealing landscaping, gave cause for Britannia to be included on Queen Elizabeth II's visit to Calgary in 1959.
