The boundaries of Braeside are as follows:
North: Southland Drive
South: Anderson Road
West: 24th Street SW
East 14th Street SW
REAL ESTATE:
Braeside has a mix of single family homes, row houses, semi-detached homes and condos. Most of the residential real estate here was built in the 1970s. Single family homes tend towards bungalows or split-level style homes. There are some very attractive brick townhomes in Braeside which offer generous living space without a lot of maintenance required.
Braeside real estate ranges from around the 200K mark to over 400K. While the prices are moderate, many Braeside homes feature energy-saving appliances and upscale detailing.
AMENITIES
Braeside is a quiet neighbourhood with plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation, being close to both the Glenmore Reservoir, Weaselhead Natural Area, Canyon Meadows Golf Club and Fish Creek Provincial Park. Braeside Park, the biggest park in the neighbourhood, features sports fields and tennis courts.
There are a number of malls in the area with a variety of shops. Braeside lies just over 12 km from Calgary’s downtown via 14th Street SW. Calgary buses, the CTrain and bike lanes make this community easily accessible by car-free transportation options.
The Braeside Community Association is active in the neighbourhood and offers programs for children, childcare and hosts local groups and events.
HISTORY
Braeside was annexed by the City of Calgary in 1956 but was not developed until 1965. It has had a quiet history as a residential community of Calgary.
