Get Your Adventure on at Canada Olympic Park

You don’t have to go too far to have an adventurous time in Calgary this summer; activities like mountain biking, zip lining, and even bobsledding are all right in your backyard!

Canada Olympic Park, the site of the 1988 Winter Olympics, has a huge variety of things to do – especially for those looking for a bit of an adrenaline rush.

First up, zip lining. COP boasts North America’s fastest zip line. On your way down, you’ll reach speeds of up to 140km/hour, not to mention you’ll be dropping down 100 metres. Just check out Mayor Nenshi, Jann Arden, and Rick Mercer trying it out; there’s no denying it – it looks like a good time! Price: $60 per person (or $49.50 per person in a group of 12 or more).

Ski hills just aren’t for winter – during the summer, it’s got an amazing selection of trails and courses for mountain biking, and the lifts are even accessible to help you access the trails. Don’t have a mountain bike? Don’t worry about it – COP has a great rental shop that will get you all of the gear you need.

Try your hand at a winter Olympic sport, sans the ice. Summer bobsledding is another unique adventure you can have at COP, and for $69 you’ll reach 100km/hour and 4-G forces!

Adventure isn’t just for the grown-ups; bring the kids along and let them try their hands at the Eurobungy, Climbing Wall, or Spiderweb. Check out COP’s website for more information, age restrictions, and pricing.

And, for the tame at heart, there’s always mini-golf. While there aren’t too many courses in Calgary, this one is both fun and affordable ($6-10 per person, $30 for a family).
