When you’re planning on doing a home project, do you do it yourself, or hire a contractor? It’s tough to know when to take it in your own hands – especially if you don’t have much experience. If you’re not sure, it’s always best to do your research, consider the pros and cons, and consult the experts.
Before getting started, here are some basic tips and guidelines when it comes to home projects:
PAINTING – DIY: Get the necessary equipment (good brushes, rollers, tape, primers, etc.) and make a game plan. Give yourself more time than expected to complete your project, and know that if you’re painting an entire room, that room will not be of use for a while. Give the paint ample time to dry before replacing furniture and any wall décor.

After what feels like a very long, albeit balmy, winter, spring has officially sprung, Calgary (just ignore the snow on the ground…)! It’s the perfect time to get started on switching out your winter décor for the lighter, spring-themed variety.
So what do you do to change up your décor? Get rid of heavy textiles? Incorporate fresh flowers and greens into and otherwise colourless room? Increase natural light by replacing heavy curtains with pale, sheer ones?
